Big Data = Big Opportunities

It’s no secret that big data is a big deal for businesses of all sizes in our technology and data-driven society. National experts and several major Green Bay corporations, community organizations and federal agencies will come together for “SAS Day at UWGB 2016 Workshop: Analytics: Big Data, Big Applications and Big Brother” to take place at UWGB on Thursday, May 5 (7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Friday, May 6 (7:30 a.m. to noon). Fireworks to celebrate 50th Anniversary

This year the annual fireworks show, sponsored by Good Times Programming and Student Life, will have a little extra to celebrate UWGB’s 50th Anniversary. The show will take place at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 6 in the Kress Parking lot. Spielbauer Fireworks Company has promised a special show with some new displays that haven’t been seen before.

Strategic Philanthropy class announces winner of grant

The Strategic Philanthropy class led by Prof. Lora Warner awarded a $10,000 grant to Howe Elementary School. Howe displayed what the UWGB students perceived as the best initiative to promote literacy among children in the region while incorporating an arts component into the curriculum. 36th annual Scholarship Golf Outing

Join UWGB alumni and friends at the Brown County Golf Course to play 18 holes of golf for the Scholarship Golf Outing benefitting UWGB students. Prizes will be awarded to the low gross team and handicap team. Price is $125 per person/$500 per foursome.

SGA and RHAA: Election results are in

Congratulations to the newly elected presidents and vice presidents of Student Government Association (SGA) and Residential Hall and Apartment Association (RHAA). Nikolas Austin and Dylan Tritt will be the president and vice president of SGA, and Ashley Keenan and Samuel Soda will continue on in their reoccurring positions as president and vice president of RHAA. Phone-a-thon supporter Kroll named Student Employee of the Year

Human Development and Social Work major Lizzy Kroll was named UWGB’s Student Employee of the Year today, April 11. Development officer Tracy Heaser nominated Kroll, a phone-a-thon supporter for Office of University Advancement, recognizing her responsibility, reliability and her easy demeanor. Kroll received a $50 gift card to UWGB and a plaque recognizing her as UWGB’s Student Employee of the Year. Other nominees:

Palette and Pub event at the Shorewood Golf Course

Good Times Programming will host a Palette and Pub event from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26 at the Shorewood Golf Course. All art supplies will be provided for free, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be half off at Shorewood that evening. Register at UTIC by 5 p.m. Monday, April 18. Registration is limited.

Online Veterans Awareness Training open to faculty, staff and students

The UW System recently adopted an online training program, Kognito: Veterans Awareness Training, aimed at teaching faculty, staff and students how to identify signs of distress, approach a student they are worried about, and refer them to services available on campus and within the community if needed.
